If you like to indulge in an alcoholic beverage every so often, keep your cash at home if you plan to do your drinking in a betting house. I’m not joking. Empty your billfold, your wallet, and leave all cash, debit cards and checks at home. Take just the cash you intend to spend on alcohol, tips and whatever loose coins you intend to lose and keep the remainder behind.
Contemptuous? Not really. Practical really. You may well experience a success after a drunken night out with your buddies and be fortunate enough to catch a 25 minute roll at a hot craps table. Hold on to that story because it is as short-lived as it gets if you constantly drink and bet. The two simply do not mix.
Leaving your money at home is a bit dramatic, however preventative actions for drastic behavior is relative and necessary. If you play to succeed, then do not consume alcohol and bet. If you are able to afford to throw away your cash without a worry, then drink all the no charge booze your gut can hold, but don’t take credit cards and chequebooks to toss into the combination of chasing losses once your inebriated brain throws away all the cash!
